Fish and chips
Bear-Batter version.
Ingredients
- 320 grams plain flour.
- 1 pint bear.
- 5 grams salt.
- 1 teaspoon baking powder.
- 1 teaspoon paprika (Pimenton de la vera). (Optional).
- Cod filets. (Or the fish you prefer).
- Oil. (For frying).
Instructions
- Mix the flour, bear, salt, baking powder and paprika if you use, until get a smooth consistency like a double cream or just a little thicker.
- Let it rest half hour.
- Preheat the oil at 180°C (350°F).
- Dredge the fish in flour on both sides.
- Dip it in the mix (Batter) well covered.
- Let the excess of batter drip off and put it slowly in the oil.
- Cook just a few minutes.
- Enjoy!

Notes
- Better use a thin filet. If you use a thick fillet you will have to lower the temperature of the oil so that it cooks well inside and the batter will be more oily.
- Paprika is not traditional at all. I use it just because I love it. So you can use any spice you want like black pepper, turmeric or whatever.
- Another option is mix 50% sparkling water with the beer.
