Homemade Country Bread

Ingredients
  

  • 500 grams flour.
  • 10 grams dry yeast.
  • 250 ml warm water.
  • 125 ml olive oil.
  • 1 tbsp salt.
  • 1 tbsp sugar.

Instructions
 

  • Dissolve the yeast in warm water and let rest 10 minutes covered.

  • Mix the flour, salt and sugar in a bowl.
    500 grams flour., 1 tbsp salt., 1 tbsp sugar.
  • Add dissolved yeast and oil. Mix well.
    Add flour if necessary until the dough is not sticky.
    125 ml olive oil.
  • Knead for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Put in a floured bowl. Cover with a damp cloth. Let rise for 1 hour in a warm place until doubled in volume.

  • Smash with your fist. Extend and form a rectangle 2 cm thick. Moisten with water and roll lengthwise to form a cylinder.
  • Put on a baking sheet, cover with a damp cloth and let rise again for 1 hour.

  • Preheat oven to 180c.
  • Make diagonal cuts, 1 cm deep in the upper part of the dough. Moisten with water and sprinkle a little flour.

  • Bake in oven at 180c. for about 30 minutes.
  • Let rest in turned off oven for a couple of minutes more.
  • Let cool on rack.
