Homemade Country Bread
Baking traditions come alive in every loaf!
Ingredients
- 500 grams flour.
- 10 grams dry yeast.
- 250 ml warm water.
- 125 ml olive oil.
- 1 tbsp salt.
- 1 tbsp sugar.
Instructions
- Dissolve the yeast in warm water and let rest 10 minutes covered.10 grams dry yeast., 250 ml warm water.
- Mix the flour, salt and sugar in a bowl.500 grams flour., 1 tbsp salt., 1 tbsp sugar.
- Add dissolved yeast and oil. Mix well. Add flour if necessary until the dough is not sticky.125 ml olive oil.
- Knead for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Put in a floured bowl. Cover with a damp cloth. Let rise for 1 hour in a warm place until doubled in volume.
- Smash with your fist. Extend and form a rectangle 2 cm thick. Moisten with water and roll lengthwise to form a cylinder.
- Put on a baking sheet, cover with a damp cloth and let rise again for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 180c.
- Make diagonal cuts, 1 cm deep in the upper part of the dough. Moisten with water and sprinkle a little flour.
- Bake in oven at 180c. for about 30 minutes.
- Let rest in turned off oven for a couple of minutes more.
- Let cool on rack.
